What's behind the bite?

Restaurant records, without the guesswork.

We created OC Health Inspector because public health information should be easy to find, understand, and use. Restaurant inspection reports are public records, but the details can be difficult to navigate.

We turn dated inspection findings and available follow-up information into approachable short videos, then connect people with the original public resources. Our purpose is to encourage informed decisions and transparency—not to shame businesses or replace the work of health inspectors.

We believe diners, workers, and restaurant operators all benefit when accurate information is accessible. An inspection is a snapshot of conditions on a particular date, not a permanent judgment about a business.

Based on public recordsWe report what inspection documents say, with dates and context.
Made for quick viewingShort videos designed to help local diners understand the findings.
Independent by designWe do not conduct inspections, certify restaurants, or assign our own grades.

Official county reporting service

Concerned about a health or safety issue?

The Orange County Health Care Agency Environmental Health Division receives reports involving restaurant or food-market sanitation, suspected foodborne illness, and other environmental health concerns such as sewage spills, certain housing conditions, medical-waste dumping, and lead hazards. Check the agency's reporting page to see what falls within its jurisdiction.

Reports go directly to the county—not to OC Health Inspector. You can also call (714) 433-6000 for non-emergency concerns during office hours (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., excluding holidays). For emergencies, call 911.
